Studio Policies
Our policies are designed to create a consistent, professional, and supportive experience for every student and family. We believe that clear expectations help everyone focus on what matters most: growth, learning, and a love of music.
Thank you for being part of the Inner Voice Studio community!
Working with Other Voice Teachers
To provide the most effective and consistent vocal training, Inner Voice Studio does not work with students who are actively studying private voice with another teacher.
Voice training is highly individualized, and even well-intentioned instruction from multiple teachers can create confusion and slow progress. We have found that students make the strongest gains when they are following one technical approach at a time.
Out of respect for our fellow educators and the close-knit performing arts community, we simply ask for openness and honesty regarding any current or previous voice instruction.
Teacher Placement
One of the benefits of studying at Inner Voice Studio is access to a team of highly qualified teachers who work collaboratively to support each student's growth.
While we carefully consider each student's age, personality, goals, experience level, and learning style when making an initial teacher placement, student needs sometimes change over time.
For this reason, The Inner Voice Studio reserves the right to reassign a student to a different teacher when it is determined that another instructor may better serve the student's educational, artistic, scheduling, or developmental needs.
These decisions are made thoughtfully and with the student's best interests in mind. A teacher reassignment should never be viewed as a reflection of a student's talent, progress, or value. Rather, it reflects our commitment to ensuring that every student receives the instruction and support best suited to their current goals and stage of development.
As Studio Director, Kaitlin oversees all teacher placements and may recommend changes when she believes a different teacher relationship would better support a student's long-term success.
Attendance & Scheduling
Consistent lessons are one of the biggest factors in a student's growth. We understand that life happens, and we appreciate your partnership in helping us maintain a predictable schedule for all students and teachers.
Cancellations
We kindly ask for at least 24 hours' notice for any lesson cancellation or scheduling change.
Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged in full.
Lessons cancelled with more than 24 hours' notice will not be charged.
Make-Up Lessons
If you provide at least 48 hours' notice, your teacher will do their best to offer a make-up lesson when scheduling permits.
Because our teachers maintain full schedules, rescheduled lessons cannot be guaranteed.
Missed lessons due to no-shows or forgotten appointments are not eligible for make-up lessons or refunds.
Teacher Cancellations
If your teacher needs to cancel a lesson, we will either reschedule at a mutually convenient time or waive the lesson fee.
Late Arrivals
Lessons begin and end at their scheduled times.
If a student arrives late, the lesson will still end at the regularly scheduled time to remain fair to all students.
Students arriving more than 15 minutes late may be considered a missed lesson.
If a teacher is running late, that time will always be made up.
Virtual Lessons
In the event of illness, severe weather, or other circumstances that make in-person lessons impractical, lessons may temporarily move online. Families will be notified as soon as possible.
Frequent Cancellations
If a student cancels four or more lessons within a three-month period, we may need to reevaluate whether a reserved weekly lesson time is the best fit. Consistency is important for student progress and for maintaining our studio schedule.
Discontinuing Lessons
We ask for a minimum of two weeks' written notice if you plan to discontinue lessons.
Extended Breaks & Holding Lesson Times
We completely understand that vacations, productions, family commitments, and other opportunities arise throughout the year.
Students who miss more than three consecutive lessons may lose their reserved lesson time, as those openings may need to be offered to students on our waiting list.
Families who would like to guarantee their lesson time during an extended absence may continue paying regular tuition while away.
Students who leave the schedule and return at a later date will be welcomed back whenever possible; however, previous lesson times, teacher assignments, and tuition rates cannot be guaranteed.
If you anticipate an absence longer than two weeks, we appreciate as much advance notice as possible.
Tuition & Billing
All lesson payments are processed automatically through our scheduling and billing system.
Payment information must be entered before lessons can begin.
Receipts will be emailed automatically after each payment is processed.
Any unpaid lesson balances must be resolved before future lessons can take place unless alternative arrangements have been approved in advance.
Our Studio Community
At Inner Voice Studio, we work hard to create an environment where students feel encouraged, challenged, supported, and celebrated.
We believe growth happens best in a community built on kindness, professionalism, respect, and generosity.
Kindness & Respect
We expect students, parents, teachers, and guests to treat one another with respect at all times.
Bullying, harassment, intimidation, discrimination, retaliation, or intentionally hurtful behavior will not be tolerated.
This expectation applies both in person and online, including social media, text messages, email, and group chats.
Positive Community Standards
We believe there is room for everyone to succeed.
Rather than comparing, criticizing, or speculating about others, we encourage students to focus on their own growth and support their fellow artists.
If concerns arise, we ask that they be addressed directly and respectfully with the appropriate teacher or studio representative.
Behavior that repeatedly disrupts the positive culture of the studio may result in dismissal from the program.
Parent Partnership & Trusting the Process
Parents are an important part of every student's journey, and we deeply value your support. Voice lessons often involve exercises and sounds that may seem unusual at first. Developing coordination, flexibility, and healthy vocal habits sometimes requires experimentation and practice before the final result emerges.
We encourage parents to allow students the freedom to explore and learn without criticism of their singing or practice sounds. We have a neutral approach to sound making because we believe there are neither good or bad sounds, just sounds that work towards our goals or not.
Our teachers are highly trained professionals, and we promise there is usually a method behind the madness!
Communication
We welcome questions, concerns, and conversations.
We simply ask that all communication remain respectful, collaborative, and solution-focused.
We are committed to treating every family with professionalism and kindness and ask for the same in return.
Our Commitment
At Inner Voice Studio, our mission is to help students grow into confident singers, thoughtful artists, and resilient young people.
Thank you for trusting us with your musical journey. We are honored to be part of it.
