Celebrating an Extraordinary Monte Awards Season

Every year, the Monte Awards celebrate the incredible talent, dedication, and artistry of high school musical theatre students throughout Southern Arizona. This year's ceremony was particularly special for the Inner Voice Studio family, and I could not be more proud of our students and the hard work they have put in throughout the year.

Of the finalists recognized in the Lead Performer categories this season, an astounding 76% were current or former Inner Voice Studio students. To see so many young artists represented among the region's top performers is both humbling and inspiring.

While awards are never the ultimate goal of training, they are a wonderful reflection of the commitment, growth, and artistry these students have demonstrated over many years of study.

Congratulations to Josh and Samia!

A special congratulations goes to Josh and Samia, who were named this year's Monte Awards winners and will go on to represent Southern Arizona at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, better known as the Jimmy Awards, in New York City.

The Jimmy Awards are widely regarded as the highest national honor for high school musical theatre performers. Established in 2009, the program brings together outstanding student performers from regional competitions across the country for an intensive week of coaching, rehearsals, workshops, and performances led by Broadway professionals. The experience culminates in a showcase on a Broadway stage where students have the opportunity to perform, connect with industry professionals, and compete for national recognition and scholarships. The program impacts thousands of students annually and has helped launch the careers of numerous Broadway performers.

Watching Josh and Samia earn this opportunity has been especially meaningful. I have had the privilege of working with both of them for many years and have witnessed firsthand their growth as singers, performers, artists, and human beings. Their talent is undeniable, but what makes them truly special is their work ethic, humility, kindness, and commitment to continual growth.

More Than Awards

As exciting as this recognition is, what makes me most proud is not the number of finalists or the awards themselves.

At Inner Voice Studio, our mission has always been to help students become confident singers, thoughtful artists, and resilient young people. We believe in healthy technique, authentic storytelling, and long-term growth. Whether a student dreams of performing on Broadway or simply wants to become a stronger, more confident performer, our goal remains the same: to help each student discover their own unique voice.

This year's Monte Awards were a beautiful reminder of what can happen when talented students commit themselves to the process, support one another, and pursue excellence with generosity and joy.

To every Inner Voice student who performed, auditioned, rehearsed, learned, grew, and took risks this year: congratulations. I am so proud of each and every one of you.

And to Josh and Samia, New York City is waiting. We can't wait to cheer you on at the Jimmy Awards!
